Releases and project continuity

Hi.

Two questions:

1. Is there any motivation to not generate new Pushpin releases?
2. Is there any plan to deprecate this project or is it a "must have" inside Fastly?

I'm evaluating these concerns to start a PoV with Pushpin.

Hi, Pushpin is critical for Fastly. There are no plans to deprecate it.

Releases are infrequent, in part because the latest is usually fine for most people and Fastly deploys pre-releases. That said, we plan to streamline our release process in the coming months and this will likely lead to more frequent releases.

I can see there has been a lot of commits recently, so the project is still active. But because of the lack of releases, it is not easy for us to get bug fixes. It is also not clear what Linux distros are supported, and other things. I'm glad that the release tempo will increase with some streamlining/automating the release process. Pushpin is the simplest solution compared to other similar solutions. I'd rather stick to Pushpin, than to use some other solution. Thanks @jkarneges for looking out for us non-Fastly Pushpin users. Looking forward to a new release and clearer support for newer OSes.

@cwthomas-llu I'm going to built it from the scratch and generate a docker image as well using the oficial Dockerfile (perhaps doing some hardening, using distroless base images, etc).
