add cloud service (Proton)

What feature or improvement do you think would benefit Files?

I see no option for cloud service at least I can't find it. But it would be nice to add Proton Drive.

I have proton drive for about a year. But Proton does not show up in files. I checked and the only thing you have for instructions is links to download it. So did I miss something?

• Check if you have cloud drive enabled in the sidebar. Right click sidebar empty space > Cloud drives
• Have Proton open and then restart Files. System tray > Quit > Reopen.
• What version of Files are you on. Files settings > About
• Can you please upload the debug.log file (DON'T copy and paste the text) directly to GitHub (email attachments don't work). You can get it in Files settings > About > Open log location or https://files.community/docs/getting-started/faq#:~:text=How%20to%20Locate%20the%20Log%20File . (You should check it for emails and names you don't want public)

Thanks that worked BUT it doesn't stick as I reboot and Cloud Drives is unchecked. Tried 3x same result, it's fine as I don't reboot. Also noticed when I scroll down or up in a folder the latency is pretty bad. It stutters and will go up and down a couple of times before settling down and I'm not anywhere I was suppose to be. If I want to scroll down to the R's it will put me in the m's. etc. Don't know if there is a setting, I've been looking can't find one for scrolling that would correct this.

Does it stay enabled if you close Files from the system tray and reopen?

Actually yes, but each time I do that files lags about 1-2 min. before loading. I thought it was crashing because it was taking so long to load files. But the lag is not good but tolerable for the moment.\ So no it doesn't do it if I close the system tray icon. But it seems only after a reboot.

It likely that Files isn't running the save operation when force closed by Windows, which it would have to do when running in the background.

Sounds like you are on 4.2.9 or older, a lot of the performance issues have been fixed/massively improved in the preview build, you can try it without affect the stable install from https://files.community/download

Yes the preview version is much better. But still The loading lag is still slow. But is much better. Used to take 30sec. to a minute to fully load. Now about 15-30sec. The scrolling problem is fixed! Noticed a coup-le of additions, good job there. I don't mind at all supporting Files I paid for it and I support files on Github so we are here for the long haul. Can't reboot now as editing video's. will check on the cloud drive problem a bit later today. OK maybe found out something. If I close Files when I have it focused on Home it loads almost instantly, but ANY other drive/folder it lags almost 30 seconds. I hope that helps. Wish others would follow your lead! Again Good Job we do appreciate it!
