I'm not sure why it doesn't appear in your Apps list. I sort my Apps list by "Install Date" and DarkThumbs will appear near the top of the list. If you can't see it in the Apps list, I'd use the .msi file to un-install it. Find the "DarkThumbsSetup_x64.msi" file (presumably in your Downloads folder or the Desktop), right-click on it with the mouse, and select "Uninstall" in the menu. If you've already deleted the downloaded .msi file, download it again and follow the above steps. |

Thanks fire, very strange, now I do see "DarkThumbs" in the App list with the corresponding Uninstall option. Will the uninstall revert the registry back to what it was before install? The reason I want to uninstall it is that every time I open a folder in Icons View with a bunch of pdf and epub files and thumbnails start generating eventually Task Manager shows a Com Surrogate process with high CPU usage. This issue was non existent before DarkThumbs install, so it has to be related to it. UPDATE: I just uninstalled DarkThumbs, did a Windows reboot, and when I open the folder with PDF and EPUB files I still see the thumbnails being generated. Strange. Could it be because I have CBX Shell installed? From what I see that's an app I installed in 2018 that only generates thumbnails for zip, rar, cbz and cbr files, not pdf or epub. |

The uninstaller disables the DarkThumbs functionality, but as documented in Issue #26, the registry is not restored to prior state.
DarkThumbs is a newer, less buggy version of CBXShell. But you are correct, if you're only seeing an issue with epub files, CBXShell is probably not at fault. I'd uninstall it myself, and use DarkThumbs for preference. The thumbnails have been cached by Windows Explorer, and will be displayed by Windows Explorer until deleted. Uninstalling DarkThumbs does not destroy the thumbnails cache. You can verify this by using the "Disk Cleanup" utility: the last option in the list is to delete Thumbnails. After doing that, the thumbnails created by DarkThumbs will no longer appear. I need to point out that DarkThumbs does not generate thumbnails for PDF files. If you are having issues when showing folders containing a large number of PDF files, DarkThumbs is not the cause. |

Hi, I installed latest version of DarkThumbs in my Windows 10 22H2 x64 PC. I see no Apps entry to uninstall it. I only see a shortcut in the desktop and a folder created in C:\Program Files with dll files, one ico and one exe but again, no uninstaller. How can I uninstall it, so to restore Windows to same state before install? Thanks
