New FMA: Microsoft 365 Copilot #46756

Description

Goal

User story
As an IT admin managing endpoints for prospect-lucia, I want to install and update the Microsoft 365 Copilot app through Fleet-maintained apps, so I can roll Microsoft's AI-first productivity app out to our Microsoft 365 users without packaging the installer myself.

Context

  • Customer: prospect-lucia
  • App: Microsoft 365 Copilot (AI-first productivity app — Copilot chat, file access, and the Microsoft 365 app hub, vendor: Microsoft)
  • Platforms requested by customer: macOS only (for now)

Sources

  • macOS — Homebrew cask microsoft-365-copilot, authored by us and submitted to Homebrew/homebrew-caskPR #267673 (open, review required). Once merged, FMA input JSON can reference token microsoft-365-copilot (installer_format pkg; pkg receipt com.microsoft.m365copilot). Requires macOS Sonoma 14 or later. The installer bundles Microsoft AutoUpdate; the cask declares depends_on cask: "microsoft-auto-update" so AutoUpdate is managed as its own cask and a normal uninstall leaves it in place for other Microsoft apps.

Vendor URLs (for reference)

Asks

  1. Add Microsoft 365 Copilot to Fleet-maintained apps for macOS via the Homebrew cask microsoft-365-copilot, once Add microsoft-365-copilot (new cask) Homebrew/homebrew-cask#267673 merges.

Source of request

Customer app-catalog review for the active engagement; the Microsoft 365 Copilot app is in their target macOS software set.
