As you're a Frappe Cloud customer I highly recommend you to open a support ticket. It enables us to help much better :)

Yes, I submitted a bug ticket on frappecloud. They have reclassfied it as a functional query.
This bug is present on V14 and V15, frappecloud or selfhosted. It seems to me the product group is ignored.

Also, Tax Rule is used to identify the Tax Template, and in your case, I think you want to apply a different tax based on the item group for which you can use the Item Tax Template. It is possible you can select a different group of items in one transaction; then in such case, how system will the system define the Tax Rule/Tax Template?

My bug report on frappe was even more generic. I think you may have found it already, but here's the ID 33500.

I consider my tax needs very basic. If the system would honor items in the item group and only assign taxes to those in the item group, I'd be all set. The issue is not limited to subgroups. The tax rule ignores the Item Group field.

I've also created a support ticket 34687.
https://support.frappe.io/helpdesk/my-tickets/34687

It has a video which shows more info. Sales Order → Create → Purchase Order → Save → Submit doesn’t create tax info. If we manually select an item in the Purchase Order, tax calculations are correct.

We experience this in multiple sites for multiple doctypes. (Sales Order, Purchase Order, Invoice, etc)

Hi,

Closing this issue as both issues have been reported on Frappe's support, so there is no need to track it on both platforms.
