It would be great to have a function or a command to get the transport status of the device, either for checking if it's available for consuming another video or to check if the last consumed video ended, since nano-dlna does not do this.

In fact, this feature is somehow related to one of the tasks already mapped in the TODO, which is to be able to handle control commands while playing (play, pause, forward, seek, etc). If we want to do this properly it would be good to continuously monitor the status from the playing client (e.g. to show the progress and status of the media). If we are able to monitor status from the server, we would also be able to identify when the media stopped or finished, so we could close nanodlna properly. Unfortunately I have never had time to implement this so far. Maybe one day.
Meanwhile you could explicitly close nanodlna when your media finished playing, by hitting Ctrl + C in the terminal running nanodlna.
