Lieer added tags incorrectly, with no action from me

Hi,

I set up notmuch and lieer as per the respective documentation, then performed an initial pull:

$ gmi pull

It hung once, so I killed it and resumed with

$ gmi pull --resume

During this process, I opened the mail with notmuch-emacs, and read a message, but otherwise did not manually change any tags or do any destructive operations.

Once the pull was over, I performed a sync

$ gmi sync

At this point, lieer applied the INBOX tags to my most recent 150-200 odd messages, causing messages that my gmail filters normally skip from my inbox altogether to appear in my inbox. It also caused messages which I had deleted in Gmail to appear in my inbox all over again. This is very annoying and surprising.

Is this a bug or a known issue?

There is a long issue about this problem:

Solutions is to set tags for new emails directly in the notmuch database:
