tool/tool_chain unable to build binutils when using gcc 14.2 on the host

While trying to build the tool chain on a host that uses gcc 14.2, the build of binutils fails because of warnings about incompatible pointer types. The warnings break the build, presumably because of -Werror. This makes me wonder because the tool/tool_chain script deliberately passes --disable-werror to the configure script of binutils. May this configuration remain without effect?
