Disable normal-editing mode

As mentioned in the previous issue (#172 #332), normal-browsing and normal-editing modes are not currently distinguished.

However, I'd like to completely disable normal-editing mode and keep only normal-browsing mode, since I really dislike having to press Esc twice. How can I achieve this?

The setting that comes closest to this idea is

glide.o.switch_mode_on_focus = true;
glide.keymaps.del("insert", "<Esc>");

However, the problem with this approach is that pressing Esc in insert mode often does not return to normal mode.

I would like Esc in insert mode to do two things:

1. Send the original Esc key event to the browser.
2. Change the mode to normal.

How can this be achieved?

Additionally, is it possible to disable normal-editing mode while setting glide.o.switch_mode_on_focus = false?
