Has anyone used ELM327 to extract data from the CanBus via the Obd port?

I would like to know if anyone has attempted to use an ELM327 OBD port to USB to connect to the Canbus to extract simple data like RPM, Engine temp, coolant temp and speed?

python-can is used to send and receive raw CAN frames. ELM327 does not support that afaik.
Take a look at https://python-obd.readthedocs.io/en/latest/ instead.

Got it thanks for the reply... Really appreciate it 😊. Unfortunately, some cars of mine don't support the OBD2 connection for some reason but some do. Hence why I'm trying to use the canbus instead. Seems like the best option currently is to build an esp32 that connects to the obd port and laptop via usb. Would love to hear other suggestions as well.
