The ILIAS REST Plugin provides a thin layer on top of ILIAS that enables Representational state transfer (REST). The plugin itself is extensible which enables flexible REST API designs.

The ILIAS REST Plugin is based on multiple components. The fundamental building block is of course ILIAS itself. Then at the first layer of the plugin, the SLIM framework and libraries are located. At the second( so called “API”) layer, the definitions of REST end points can be found. This layer consists of core endpoints such as OAuth2 and extension endpoints.
