Description

I’ve improved the version extraction process from the go.mod file. Previously, cat was used to read the file, which worked fine, but I’ve replaced it with a more efficient approach using grep -o.

This change makes the code more concise and faster, as it eliminates the need to call cat.

Walkthrough

This pull request updates the scripts/protoc-swagger-gen.sh script to simplify how version variables are extracted from the go.mod file. The previous extraction method used a combination of cat, grep, and sed, but it has been replaced by a more concise grep -o command. This change affects the extraction of variables such as COSMOS_SDK_VERSION, IBC_VERSION, INITIA_VERSION, OPINIT_VERSION, INDEXER_VERSION, and CONNECT_VERSION, while maintaining the same functionality.

Changes

File Change Summary
scripts/protoc-swagger-gen.sh Simplified version extraction for variables (COSMOS_SDK_VERSION, IBC_VERSION, INITIA_VERSION, OPINIT_VERSION, INDEXER_VERSION, CONNECT_VERSION) by using grep -o instead of a sed pipeline.

Poem

Hoppin' through lines with simple cheer,
I see the script now runs so clear.
A neat grep hop replaces the old maze,
Code that shines in simpler phase.
From this rabbit, kudos and happy days!

    • Generate unit testing code for this file.
    • Open a follow-up GitHub issue for this discussion.
  • Files and specific lines of code (under the "Files changed" tab): Tag @coderabbitai in a new review comment at the desired location with your query. Examples:
    • @coderabbitai generate unit testing code for this file.
    • @coderabbitai modularize this function.
  • PR comments: Tag @coderabbitai in a new PR comment to ask questions about the PR branch. For the best results, please provide a very specific query, as very limited context is provided in this mode. Examples:
    • @coderabbitai gather interesting stats about this repository and render them as a table. Additionally, render a pie chart showing the language distribution in the codebase.
    • @coderabbitai read src/utils.ts and generate unit testing code.
    • @coderabbitai read the files in the src/scheduler package and generate a class diagram using mermaid and a README in the markdown format.
    • @coderabbitai help me debug CodeRabbit configuration file.

Note: Be mindful of the bot's finite context window. It's strongly recommended to break down tasks such as reading entire modules into smaller chunks. For a focused discussion, use review comments to chat about specific files and their changes, instead of using the PR comments.

15-20: LGTM! Nice optimization of version extraction.

The refactoring from cat + grep + sed to a single grep -o command is a good improvement that:

  • Simplifies the code by reducing pipeline complexity
  • Improves efficiency by eliminating unnecessary commands
  • Maintains the same functionality with a cleaner implementation

Consider adding error handling for version extraction.

The script might fail silently if versions are not found in go.mod. Consider adding error checking:

 COSMOS_SDK_VERSION=$(grep -o "$COSMOS_URL v[^\ ]*" ./go.mod)
+if [ -z "$COSMOS_SDK_VERSION" ]; then
+ echo "Error: Failed to extract Cosmos SDK version from go.mod"
+ exit 1
