Idea #5 - Greedybear: Dashboard Modularization

I’m very interested in working on Project https://www.honeynet.org/gsoc/gsoc-2026/google-summer-of-code-2026-project-ideas/ Dashboard Modularization. The idea of refactoring the current hard-coded dashboard into a configuration-driven and extensible widget system really appeals to me.

While analyzing the frontend, I noticed it is currently a client-side React application. For this project, I plan to focus strictly on modularizing the dashboard within the existing stack or we can switch to Next.js particularly if server-side rendering or performance optimization becomes relevant

The idea was to implement this using the existing stack. I am open to discuss a switch to a different framework, if it brings clear advantages and does not degrade the current functionality though.

No issues at all! I completely get it.

I had updated the document(https://docs.google.com/document/d/1fthX49BluULz71fqCEPgOfwkYPuhPE1K45Z7whJxIRM/edit?usp=sharing) It was more like a technical analysis (about 4-5 pages) on why using Next.js would be beneficial with respect to modularization, performance, etc.

However, I do not want to overcomplicate things.

If you want to stick with the existing stack, I am absolutely fine with implementing the modularization of the dashboard using the existing stack with React and Vite.

However, if you’re open to using Next.js and you think it would be beneficial without impacting the functionality, then I can definitely align my final proposal accordingly.

But if not, then I will be happy to move ahead with the modular configuration-driven widget system using the existing stack.
