This has been implemented (ability to alias fields) as annotations (honoring Jackson's or using json-io's Io* annotations). See the annotation section of the readme/userguide. A field can also be renamed using the properties files on the classpath, but that is a bit more difficult to do.

This will be released in json-io 4.95.0.
