Add navigation to upcoming events

Is it possible to display navigation items for upcoming events?

E.g. I would like to filter them by location or category. The UI doesn't allow navigation for upcoming events and the shortcode attribute also doesn't do anything.

It would be a lot of work, but it's not impossible. It's not possible to just use the same navigation tooling as the main views, because the fundamental SQL queries are radically different - the main navigation is all based on date ranges (show events between x and y), but the upcoming events is much more complicated, as it's trying to show a particular number of events that are occurring in the future, with no regard to the actual dates. E.g., that query needs to return five events whether they're all happening later today or spread out over the next 5 years.

Can you be more specific what you mean by "the shortcode attribute doesn't do anything"?

Sorry, I think this was very unclear.

The calendar view has the option to show navigation items, so I can add some basic filters like date (showing e.g. May 2026 only). This works with GET parameters. The Upcoming events doesn't have the option "navigation above/below" and also doesn't react to parameters. But I would also like to filter them dynamically e.g. by category or timeframe.
