vmhgfs-fuse performs much more efficiently than other methods.

Is it possible to make boot2docker support sharedfolder0.followSymlinks = "TRUE"?

I encountered an issue where I can’t create a folder symlink,
which causes problems with npm and yarn they fail to install.

By default boot2docker does not setup any shared folders and this requires editing the vmx file. It would need to be added to docker-machine as a feature. Let me think about it.

Thank you for your response and for continuously updating and improving boot2docker.

As for modifying the ".vmx" file by adding sharedfolder0.followSymlinks = "TRUE",
I’ve tested it, and unfortunately, boot2docker-xfs-ng it doesn’t work for now.

If followSymlinks could actually work, I believe boot2docker would come back to life again.
However, I’m not sure whether it can enhance security by preventing symlink writes that go outside the shared folder in VMware.

Better solution now for docker can by using the “Synchronized file shares” function along with the Pro Plan subscription
This reduces the overhead time realtime sync file between windows to linux(boot2docker) from 100-500 ms to just 50 ms, which is much faster and more efficient than vmhgfs-fuse.
