How do I set up View option in Kitty URL Launcher?

I was able to edit my .conf/kitty/kitty.conf file and set editor to nvim but I couldn't find anything about a view. I'm guessing it going over my head. My guess is that I can't use cat or bat as a viewer and it has nothing to do with text files?

I'm trying to open bash script files.

Not sure what you are asking. editor is used when you open the kitty config file for example, by pressing ctrl+shift+f2. You can open any file with any program you want to at your shell prompt in kitty. Settings in kitty.conf have no relevance to that.

When I try to open a bash script file with kitty url launcher in a file explorer, I get the options like in the example image from above. I'm confused what the view option is used for. when I type v nothing happens even thought kde pops a animation next to my mouse telling me kitty is doing something.

V will try to open the file in the less pager program. It should be popping up any GUI notifications at all there is no GUI involved. What version of kitty are you on?

I didn't see notification yesterday only saw KDE telling me that kitty was doing something when I press my v key by kitty's icon bouncing up and down next to my mouse cursor.

I bad at explaining so I add a video of what I'm trying to explain. the only context you need is that I didn't have less installed on my pc yesterday so I installed it and re-tried it again.

As you can see in the video both files have the same permissions but one I'm able to "View" it and other I'm not. when I close both files it shows that less did in fact run.

I restart my pc mid way writing the post and now I can't view either of them. The edit button still works. and when I say no on running the script i can see the less command working but its session ended like in the video above. and I'm not seeing any notifications of anything.

No clue why less is failing for some files, you'd have to ask the maintainer of less. It's on my TODO list to write a native and much more functional pager for kitty which will eventually replace less but until that happens, we are stuck with less.
