Address lint reports

According to this (which we have a pointer to at the top of the README), gocyclo is the only linter not happy with the codebase in it's current state.

Please address these warnings, or add comments explaining why we need to ignore them in the codebase, so they aren't reported again.

For the record, we had a similar issue before with the pod store until it was refactored by: #1315. Ideally, we should follow the same pattern for all the stores but making the change is very tedious, so I would very much understand if we don't.

I think it'll pick up on the changes automatically once the gocyclo issues are addressed. There's also a "refresh now" button there on the same link if you want to do that manually.
