I am surprised you didn't like it, the NXP one is supposed to be the best? And I think they now standarized on putting the latest NXP one in their premium ones. |

I bought one, will be delivered tomorrow. I will check if it can be rooted although chances are very slim.... it features their next-gen firmware("VehiConn" etc.); the funny thing is they also ship it randomly on older carplay2air devices...weird. (I got a pack of ~10 random carlinkit devices some time ago) if it shares the same OTA process with the Mini Ultra, there might be something workable after dumping OTA decrypter from such older device |

also, this new chip in theory features Secure Boot, but it looks to be such pain in the ass to support, that there's 50/50 chance they didn't use it. flash memory is most likely integrated within the chip, making it hard to dump in practice without rooting |

Its rejects my hevcInfo key as "unnegotiated" and drops connection. no luck. do you happen to have exact structure of hevcInfo? they seemed to change that in recent iOS versions
I don't see it being enforced, my Carlinkit is still on WPA2 and iPhone doesn't seem to complain when testing the newer protocol |

I verified that thoroughly. HEVC is completely blocked from the "old" protocol with the old chip. HEVC is not negotiated with HU, it's just expected or not depending on protocol state(mostly the "Ultra" status). hevcInfo is a marker key and it's content is not never checked for anything - that matches my previous findings, but I thought something was changed in latest iOS |

Well, another day, another details. I bought another carlinkit ultra mini3 and this is totally FAKE (left side is original, right side - fake). Copyright at web UI. All copyrights are removed. They don't show that officially, but lastest samples having requests to alibaba cloud named backet https://cpbox-abroad.oss-us-west-1.aliyuncs.com/6238/version.json - carlinkit ultra 3 mini (my own) So as u can see - here different brands use same fw for different devices (now they switching from 192.168.1.101 to 192.168.50.100, but wifi password is 88888888 (main mark that this is ottocast fw). |

The url you are listing isn't owned by carbitlin or ottocast but it's an Alibaba server their supplier uses for a myriad of products under alot of brand names. Neither is the actual oem nor do either host their own updates they both share the same supply chain though. |
I don't know this OEM supplier name, but ottocast used it fw before carlinkit, but it different all at this repo. Another kind of firmware. |

looks like there are significant software changes, and it's quite possible that they changed the CPU to something new entirely, because reviewer suggets performance improvements unseen in previous models
(ok, more than "possible", the previous imx6ull platform is literally impossible it's very bulky!)
