Resizing is sometimes not an integer multiply of font size

In mate-terminal-1.28.1-4.fc42.x86_64 and also with trunk 8634b87 = v1.28.1 the resizing is pixel based and it shows inside as many characters as they fit with same gap on the right and bottom side. After opening a new tab it changes - resizing of the window is jumping by character size so that the window size is always an integer multiple of the character size. After closing the tab it still resizes in the integer multiply.

By reverting d7c96c4 according to #433 (comment) it behaves the integer way always, from the beginning. I believe this is a correct behavior. Therefore this commit should be reverted (sure probably some smart conditional way).

If we revert that unconditionally we make the first line in terminal unusable in wayland. An alternative is to narrow the scope of that code change to wayland sessions only.
