How to unmap a key?

Here's what I tried:
1.

  local api = require "nvim-tree.api"

This gives Unknown option

You can use :h vim.keymap.del() to delete keymaps.

But I'm still missing something (it doesn't work)

You need to unmap the key for the buffer itself. See examples at :help nvim-tree-mappings
