Challenge 4: Teams Voice SIP Phone Integration

Objective: Successfully integrate SIP phones with Teams by setting up Teams certified deskphones, enabling SIP Gateway in Teams, and configuring SIP deskphones.

Tasks and Success Criteria:

  1. Teams Certified Deskphone Integration

    • Overview of Certified Deskphones:

      • Teams certified deskphones are devices that have been tested and approved by Microsoft to ensure compatibility and optimal performance with Teams.
      • These devices offer features such as high-quality audio, easy deployment, and seamless integration with Teams.
    • Integration Steps:

      1. Unbox and power on the Teams certified deskphone.
      2. Connect the deskphone to the network using an Ethernet cable.
      3. Sign in to the deskphone using your Teams credentials.
      4. Configure any additional settings as needed (e.g., network settings, time zone).
      5. Verify that the deskphone is registered and operational in the Teams admin center.
  2. SIP Gateway Enablement in Teams

    • Introduction to SIP Gateway:

      • The SIP Gateway allows SIP-based devices to connect to Teams, enabling organizations to leverage existing SIP phones with Teams.
      • It provides a bridge between SIP devices and the Teams infrastructure.
    • Enabling SIP Gateway in Teams:

      1. Navigate to the Teams admin center.
      2. Select "Voice" and then "SIP devices."
      3. Click "Enable SIP Gateway" to start the enablement process.
      4. Configure the necessary settings, such as SIP domain and authentication methods.
      5. Save the configuration.
  3. SIP Deskphone Integration with Teams

    • Configuring SIP Deskphones:

      1. Access the web interface of the SIP deskphone.
      2. Navigate to the SIP settings section.
      3. Enter the SIP server details provided by the Teams admin center.
      4. Configure the authentication settings using the credentials provided.
      5. Save the configuration and restart the deskphone.
    • Integration Techniques:

      • Ensure that the SIP deskphones are running the latest firmware.
      • Use the correct SIP server and authentication details provided by Teams.
      • Test the integration by making and receiving calls on the SIP deskphones.
    • Success Criteria:

      • The Teams certified deskphone is successfully integrated and operational.
      • Users can make and receive calls using the deskphone.
      • SIP Gateway is enabled and configured correctly in Teams.
      • SIP devices can connect to Teams through the SIP Gateway.
      • SIP deskphones are configured correctly with the SIP server details.
      • SIP deskphones can register with Teams and are operational.
