New look :(

Not a fan of the new look, i really liked how it looked anf felt prior to this latest update. It resembles Octopi or something now and i like Shelly for how clean it was. Now it feels cluttered. Any plans to have an option to revert back?

We are going to add the meta search to be enabled in the next major release next week. This was done to simplify use for people that are not power users. We do understand and intend to put it back as an option as we also use the metasearch.

Searching was more convenient in the previous version. Are there any plans to sort results, for example, by repository?

Yes we have someone working of sorting columns for all the pages.

I will give you a more indepth breakdown of why this was also removed, so it will help other that might feel the same way understand our though process.

We kept getting lots of questions and issues raised about the home page it felt that many people were not interacting with the application outside of it. we can only fit so much info on a page that is meant to do everything and it was a powerful feature. But it left many people more confused then maybe it was worth, as we cant field 10 questions a day as 2 devs forever, thats why the global search was removed.

As stated above it will be brought back as its own tab that will be able to be opted into, we may make further changes on feedback. So people dont only use that screen and then open an issue as to why we dont show the info on packages we just cant as well as it gets complex mixing sources as soon as flatpak is included as they contain certain levels of info. As a quick search was never meant to include a full comprehensive info into a package.

So if theres any additional feedback at what we can do to work from here which isnt bring back the home page we will happily take it.

We do want to move torwards a more shop friendly style format (column view will be able to opt back into) going into the future so you may see a more closely related ui like flatpak. Giving recommended pacakges (from ourselves and others)

I hope this gives some insightful background into our thought process for changes.

How does searching for packages by name work? Is there any way to improve it? For example, typing "unity" won't find the "unityhub" package.

I really like the way it's evolving, at least for me, the UI is much better now than it was weeks ago. My only suggestion would be to make icons a little bigger, they are very small in the current form. I think that "pamac" got a very pleasant size and proportion on icons / descriptions. Thanks for the hard work !

Thank you! I think our trial of a similar style will be with our recommended apps page with our next minor release cycle. Maybe a way to see what direction we want to go with trial with one page.

I think we want to maintain 2 styles for package install, not to get to in detail of what i want to do for the ui. But a listview style we have now and one that would more similar to pamac. :) That way people can have an option for both and the listview is at the very least very low maintence. The second option will be similar to pamac and i thinking of an idea of a "shopping cart" where you built ur transaction of packges you may need to install at 1 time. But ill see when im able to get to that.
