App loader 'new' date retrieval? #8014

I was going through the app loader and looking at the dates of the apps that are 'new', and I realized that the 'new' and 'updated' dates are tracked from when the PR/first commit was opened, not when it was merged in. I was just curious how the data about app update times are retrieved, and if it would make more sense changing it to be the date of the last commit/PR merge date, especially for long-lived PRs. |

newis done using the first commit date,updatedis done from the last - using the data stored in the Git repo. I'm not sure if there's really a more sensible way of handling it - I'm not sure if a PR merge is really tracked separately, and for instance for some apps I made I may have just commited them without a PR.
