How about overlaying a Geotiff arial image? It could be a cool feature to directly navigate over an arial image that carries info that is not in OSM.

Not a satellite view. Just a local overlay that one can view in sync with his map. No tile server, no service provider.

Where will users take this geotiff file? How will it be managed after the import/opening? What are the real/mass use cases?

I happen to have a high res arial with some specific info added, I wanted to 'navigate' on it. I aligned it to OSM just to find that there is no app to do that.
