It is not in our power, unfortunately. Apple requires the use of the new XCode to upload app updates. Our iOS 12 updates built with new XCode were crashing immediately by the system, without even launching the app, on iOS 12 after uploading them to AppStoreConnect. Other developers complained about the same strange crashes for other apps on iOS 12. In short: we could support it, but Apple broke something on its end, so we can't release an always-crashing app/it won't pass the Apple review. |

Dear Alexander,
I guess there is sadly nothing anyone can do against Apple to make them stop that behaviour of obsoleting devices. What you explained about the App Store is really a scandal. Apple (and others) got reported to practice technical obsolescence on their devices and software, and to escape that, they do it instead at the App Store level. Disgusting.
That being said, I replaced my iPhone 6 with a second-hand iPhone 8, on which the latest version of Organic Maps is available and still fully supported, and it cost me less than €50. So in the end, it is not such a big deal.
It is just a question of principle. I don’t like to be forced to upgrade a device when it is not justified.
Now I wanted to finish this email by saying that I discovered that the iOS version of Organic Maps works beautifully on Mac with Silicon, and with full screen, full resolution graphics and all! It is REALLY amazing! I expected a cropped display, and I got it full screen instead !
Congratulations to the OM team for that!
A request I would place here: as OM works on Macs with Silicon, why don’t you just release it on the Mac App Store too? That way, it would also be available to older Macs with Intel processors. I don’t think that would require a lot of effort.
Anyway, OM is great and I love it :-)
Philippe

Hello,
Please keep support for older devices, such as the Apple iPhone 6 running iOS 12.5.8.
Maybe write this in the roadmap.
Thanks
