Support for icon styles defined in KML files

First of all, thank you for all the work on Organic Maps. I've recently started using it at my job, and it has become an excellent replacement for proprietary alternatives.

At the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), we exchange KML files in which marker colors represent different classes of locations. The color information is very important to our work.

For this reason, I would like to request support for displaying KML placemark icon styles defined through the KML file.

Use case

I work with KML files that contain hundreds of geographic locations to be visited in the field. These files define different categories of points by assigning different pushpin colors through the KML icon style. This is how they are defined in the KML files we use:

Applications such as Google Earth and SW Maps use the icon defined on the KML file automatically, making it very easy to distinguish the categories while working in the field.

Current behavior

Organic Maps imports the KML, but all placemarks are displayed using the same marker color (red by default), regardless of the icon style specified in the KML.

As a result, the visual classification encoded in the KML is lost.

Expected behavior

Organic Maps should render placemarks using the corresponding icon style.

Why this matters

Adding support for KML marker icon style would make Organic Maps an even more capable open-source alternative for organizations and professionals.
