You have to check the logs and the errors you get. There can be all kind or errors causing this from some connectivity isssues,not enough brokers, etc.

The Kafka pods did not print error logs.

That is not a log from the Kafka Pod. That is log from the init container that just prepared some files for the Kafka Pod. I have no idea what UI are you using. But you need to select there the right container somewhere.

Actually, going back to the initial question ... the error you get is Authorization failed.. That is because while you do not have authentication enabled, you have authorization enabled. So you have to remove this:
