In one of the discussions I shared a screenshot of my MQTT integrations in Home Assistant. I had not realised that the integration for my Volvo car showed the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) of the car as part of the integration name. Yesterday I received a mail with a verification code from Volvo. Sombody had tried to create a Volvo ID for my car. So whenever you post a screenshot or some code check whether any confidential inormation is showing. I updated the screenshsot, but the VIN is now somewhere where I don't want it to be.

In the case of a Volvo it's worse than you might think... Binding a car to a Volvo account is a minor inconvenience if you keep in mind that certain manufacturers are using it is the seed for the calculation of non-random initial authentication material. You'll find a bit about it in some darker corners of the net...
