I second this. It seems really jarring from someone who plays osu!catch on desktop where one hand controls the dash speed and the other hand controls the movement of the catcher. Dashing in the current way is not reliable (accidentally hitting the "slow" direction instead of the hyper/dash direction), and thus is just frustrating and nonintuitive, but I am jaded in the sense that I have played osu!catch a certain way for over 5 years. It is nigh impossible to replicate a good/passing score after nearly any platter, let alone rain+ difficulty. I think it would be beneficial to allow the player to also select which side of the screen should be the dash/controls because there are people who prefer to play the game a certain way. |

Catch player (rank ~1200) with 10d of playtime here. I can FC 5* maps normally but I cant even pass a 2* map with touch input. This input method is too different that my previous skills cannot be transferred except for my pattern recognition. To be fair though, you can definitely get used to this input method, but the width of the input bars should be at least 1.5x larger because I cant even consistently hit the bar on an ipad. |

Spent 1-2 hours playing with it this afternoon. Here are a few scattered thoughts about it. Possible Improvements
Bugs (on Android 12, Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra)not that interested in spending extra time to write a bug report so just documenting. These bugs does not happen on ipad.
How I Playmaybe there are some insights to be gained here? |

So, here's my 2 cents on this. The current input method is fine for new players, but horizontal bars doesn't really make sense. Even if we have a wide aspect ratio, it's still way too cramped, fingers will slide around accidentally, and besides users would only use either the lower part or the higher part, leaving half of the space useless. I suggest make the default arrangement to be upper half = dashed, lower half = normal. This also opens up a new playstyle, like swiping up to dash and swipe down to go back to normal. Look something like this
