Trying to get RE7 to work properly #569
-
Hi. Enjoying the mod so far (first time playing the game just beat the spider lady) but I am having some issues with different versions of the mod. Ok so I am using an oculus quest 2 and so far I have tried playing it with the latest build using the oculus mode (not steam VR) and it worked but didn't show the crosshair for me and some bullets were not landing. So then I downloaded one of the newer builds and that fixed the crosshair but I was still having issues with bullets not connecting with enemies a good chunk of the time. Then I found a post stating that reverting to the TDB version of the game and using that version of the mod fixes the bullet issue. I downloaded the mod and installed it deleting the API.DLL file as usual to enable Oculus mode but the game loads like its in VR but no screen actually appears of my quest 2. I tried another newer version of the mod again but still having the same issue it just doesn't seem to like the Oculus mode using the TDB build. I reverted to using the steam VR version and I can confirm it fixed the bullet issues but now I am left with terrible frame rates because Steam VR hates my computer and the games run horribly but using the Oculus version runs smoothly. Any idea how I can fix it so I can use the Oculus version of the mod and fix the bullet connection issues? EDIT: I forgot I should also mention I am using the link cable and the Steam version of the game with the Beta TDB update (I was told this update fixed the bullet glitch which it does but broke oculus XD) |

OK possibly found a fix for this so I thought I would share it for anyone else having issues until the bullet solution is fixed. First set your game back to the beta mode by going into the games properties on steam and selecting the option in the betas tab Then download the TDB version of the mod and place all the files accept the API.dll file (if your using oculus not steam) into your RE folder as normal Make sure in the RE7 config file that everything is set to direct x 11 not 12 Go into your Nvidia control panel and make sure you set the image settings to "use the advanced 3d image settings". Go into the take me there section or manage 3d section tab and select open GL rendering GPU (some may have it say just GPU) and set it to auto-select and click apply. Then go into change resolution (still in Nvidia control panel now) and select Use Nvidia colour settings. Under those settings select YCbCr422 and change your output colour depth to 8 bpc and set output dynamic range to limited. once all this has done, go to your windows search tab and select "graphics settings". Click browse under graphics performance preference and find where your RE7.exe is located (same place as you put the mod anyway so easy to find). Once you have added it, select the game and change its settings to "high performance". You must do this for all VR games you wish to run (at least the ones your having issues with) especially mods because apparently its something to do with your monitor trying to force HDR and use your integrated graphics rather than your graphics card. I have been searching for a fix for like 3 days now and this actually works so now I can play RE7 with really nice FPS, graphics and no more bullet glitch! hope this helps |
