Seeking design suggestion

I’m seeking design help for a test.

My current design:

@pytest.fixture
def f_payload():
  return { name=‘adam’ }


@pytest.fixture
def f_create(f_payload):
  result = User().create(data=f_payload)
  yield result
  User().delete(id=result[‘id’]

def test_compare_dicts(f_payload, f_create_record):
  assert f_payload[‘name’] == f_create_record.response[‘name’], “comparison failed”

I’d like to parameterize the tests so I can use xfail on some parameters. (For example: passing a username User().create() will reject.
Is there a way to pass parameters from the test to f_payload? I can’t find anything in the docs that seem to fit this situation.

Of course, I needed to ask the question before I could find the doc. Is indirect_parameterization the way to do this?
