Is it possible to make CREFL more general for other sensors?

AHI/AMI/FCI/METimage...or even MSI/OLI. How to calculate those coefficients?

CREFL is already a generic method and can be applied to other sensors, it was originally based on MODIS algorithms. That said, there's a specific implementation for ABI that changes some values.

Overall, though, it should be possible to use CREFL simply by adding a suitable composite to a sensor's etc/composites/[sensor].yaml file.

I don't know @simonrp84. I think a lot of work went in to customizing the values for specific sensors. The ABI implementation was originally developed by Ralph Kuehn who doesn't work at the SSEC anymore, but did test it with ABI and AHI. I don't think AHI is enabled/configured/supported in Satpy though. This should theoretically mean that it work "well enough" for AMI and FCI I suppose. VIIRS and MODIS are also supported but again with their own coefficients. Also note that the ABI coefficients have a "fudge factor" for what Ralph thought made the output look good.
