WG - Quarkus Wrapper (./quarkusw)

This workgroup focuses on designing and building a Quarkus-specific wrapper—similar in spirit to mvnw or gradlew—powered by JBang. The goal is to provide a simple, community-driven way to bootstrap and run Quarkus projects safely and consistently, without requiring a globally installed Quarkus CLI.

The wrapper will initially be installable in a project via a new Quarkus CLI plugin:

quarkus wrapper install

And updatable through:

quarkus wrapper update

Key considerations

• Wrapper should be community-first in scope and design (at least initially).
• Nothing needs to be installed on the machine (JDK can be installed by jbang)
• The actual download URLs and related artifacts will be part of the platform definition, with fallback mechanisms if platform-specific links are missing.
• Security is a core concern: using a generic quarkusw script without verification can be risky. We'll enforce hash checks to validate the integrity of downloaded components.
• We'll start with the CLI plugin-based approach and evaluate later whether to support generation via Codestarts.
