Is there any way to get a ConfigMapping to work in a nice way with something like feature-toggle.label-number=true like feature-toggle.DEV-1123=true?

Been trying to get this to work

export FEATURE_TOGGLE_DEV_777=true

and application properites

feature-toggle.DEV-666=false

noticed that the export was made into feature.toggle.DEV.777 or feature-toggle."DEV-777" when i used export FEATURE_TOGGLE__DEV_777__=true

Yes, so this is described in the documentation: https://quarkus.io/guides/config-reference#environment-variables.

In an ENV name, the underscore can represent multiple characters (dot, dash, or even a literal underscore). By default, Quarkus maps the ENV name underscore separator to a dot, because it is the most likely character. Quarkus is able to determine the right substitution by looking into the @ConfigMapping paths.

But, when it is a user-defined path (like this case), we have no way to determine if DEV_777 is dev.777, or dev-777, or even dev_777 with the ENV name alone. For such cases, you need to include the expected dot name in application.properties to help Quarkus disambiguate the case.

So if i understand your explanation i would need to keep a feature-toggle.dev-0 or so in the properties file to get this working?

Yes, unless your terminal accepts -, and in that case, you can use the actual separator character for your key.

Alternatively, you can also use a .env file, which doesn't have the terminal's limitations.
