The doc-reference categories list currently has 20 categories. As the Quarkus ecosystem grows with AI and workflow automation extensions, two new categories would help users discover relevant extensions:
ai — For extensions integrating with AI/LLM frameworks (e.g., LangChain4j, model providers). Several Quarkiverse extensions already use ai as a category in their quarkus-extension.yaml, but it's not in the official list.
automation — For workflow orchestration and automation engines (distinct from business-automation which is positioned for BPM/rules engines). This would cover extensions like Quarkus Flow and Temporal that provide general-purpose workflow automation.
Additionally, it may be worth reviewing the current default category list to see if it reflects the current ecosystem — for example, ai is already widely used by Quarkiverse extensions but isn't officially listed.
