[IDEA] - depend on a proper nd-array implementation?

From a quick skim-through the source code, it feels like strange could greatly benefit from a proper NDArray structure (for superior performance). This looks like the perfect fit, as it comes with literally zero bloat - it's just the data-structure.

Just an idea :)

Hi,
Thanks for the idea, and it is indeed a good suggestion. I've been thinking about how to enable different engines. I had an implementation using nd4j in the past, and it was very performant.
I'll have a look at how to use the java-ndarray project, and in any case I am convinced that dedicated libraries can improve performance.
I've been working on some generic optimisations at the algorithmic level, and I hope to merge those soon. Apart from those, I think different implementations (e.g. using different underlying engines) can be dealt with by creating different implementations of QuantumExecutionEnvironment.

Also, since the project depends on modern Java, I would recommend making the Complex.java class an immutable record. The main challenge here would be moving the math operations (e.g. add, multiply etc) to static methods (taking two args), but it would prepare the ground for whenever value-types land (i.e. project Valhalla).
