I am facing Syntax Error after following Documentation

I also created a Counter.js component but it was giving me a syntax error. So I tried with Counter.jsx and It fixed the error I was facing. Why did I encounter such error?

Your build system apparently isn't set up to compile JSX syntax in a .js file.

How can I set up my build system to compile JSX in a .js file? Or, Should I just use .jsx?

I think, it would be helpful if the documentation used .jsx instead of .js while creating the component i.e. Counter.js.
