Working Group Meeting: Dec 12, 2025

We're having our first virtual working group call today at 1830–1900 UTC!

As this is our first working group call, I expect it to be a bit informal. Our focus going forward will be on contributors and (potential) adopters.

Basic agenda:

1. Intro (welcome to the working group!)
2. Brief personal intros
3. Look at the roadmap
4. Adopter blockers/wishlist
5. Contributor updates/discussion topics

Thanks to everyone who joined! It was nice to meet you and chat through some high level Osprey stuff. :)

Some emergent topics that bubbled up:

• Onboarding/adoption

  • We can better onboard people to Osprey by being clearer about what it is, and where along a T&S journey it is useful; in many cases, actually introducing Coop first as a moderation tool is more appropriate

  • How do we identify the right audiences for Osprey to encourage them to get involved? Large enough platforms where investigation tools are useful/needed, but not too late (once there's a problem)

  • Druid may be a blocker for adoption, though it has a useful UI on top of the underlying OLAP database; Bluesky removed Druid in favor of BigQuery; leaning on Clickhouse (with its bare bones UI) or using Grafana as a UI over whichever data store could be alternative approaches

  • Users != contributors; T&S team members/moderators using Osprey are not typically going to be the engineers evaluating/contributing to Osprey

  • A demo is super helpful for context and showing Osprey/how an investigation tool is used

• Information sharing features

  • Could multiple fediverse platforms share emergent phenomena/intel without sharing user data? Would that be functionality that could be added/supported by Osprey?

For our next meeting, we'll confirm the meeting length (I know it was 30 mins in one place and an hour in another) and have a little more structure, but thank you all so much for the discussion!
