Pre-Submit Checklist:

What happened:
Let me quote Daniel or dhaavi, the CTO of safing.
"Debian 12 does not ship with the "iptables to nftables" translation as they used to. Portmaster still uses iptables for one part of the integration with the network stack.

If you install the "iptables" package, this should do the trick. If anyone comes across this issue and this works, please report back!

We are working on native support for nftables, but as this is a very critical part of the software, it will take some time to build and thoroughly test."

This comment dates back over a year to september 6th 2023.
So hows progress going? Portmaster still has the exact same problems on debian.
As much as i love your freedom software i must say it's near ridiculous offering a .deb installer on your downloadpage if your software does not work on debian.
This makes the impression of not being able to take safing seriously, sorry to say but that's the outcome what people will think if you officialy provide a .deb installer and since over a year havent fixed the problem and neither have removed the .deb installer.
Have a good day.
