How to do a update without missing data.

I found a threads (didn't show) bug and thx to @akkartik fix it with arclanguage/anarki@bae001a, but when i pull that in the openshift server and $rhc app-force-stop arcnews then $rhc app-start arcnews, the threads bug fixed but all the data (users , stories) are missing. How can i do a update without missing data?

OpenShift automatically resets files in the application directories, so you need to make sure that your story data is going to the OPENSHIFT_DATA_DIR. I tried to do some of that automatically in main.arc, which sets tmpdir* to be in data, but you may need to redirect other paths to that location as well.

Seems like OS resets files Only when i change the arc.arc, but after i edit the news.arc and restart, the file wasn't missing.

@tvvocold you're already using the app-data directory, right?

When you say the data is missing, do you mean you don't see it on the site, or that the actual files are missing?

Did you have backups of all the data?

There's no mention of arc.arc anywhere in shader's scripts. So this logic is coming from openshift. @tvvocold, would you be willing to run some experiments? Rather than just restore from backup and continue like this, let's try modifying each file in the arc repo (there's not very many of them excluding what's under .git) and see if data files are missing. Let's see if it happens everytime arc.arc is modified, and if it's refreshing the data on any modification to a file in the top-level or something stupid like that.

I didn't back up coz it's a test gear not production:) Yeah, the actual files are missing.
The modify of arc.arc seems triger OS to rebuild the arc.
I will do more testing :)
