In a Markdown file with mapping gx.

I removed the second argument to BrowseX, and problem gone for me.

Looks like it was fixed in the latest markdown plugin preservim/vim-markdown#671

Yes. I tried the code at https://github.com/preservim/vim-markdown/blob/1bc9d0cd8e1cc3e901b0a49c2b50a843f1c89397/ftplugin/markdown.vim#L752 and it works for me.
So you could do the same in vim-polyglot.
