The section below of the readme, what exactly does it mean?

IMPORTANT: springdoc-openapi v1.8.0 is the latest Open Source release supporting Spring Boot 2.x and 1.x.

I see @ Maven the last one is 1.8.0
but why does the current repo have tag v2.8.1

Is the project no longer open source after 1.8.0?
do we have to create our own release after 1.8.0 and it is still open source, and it will just no longer be published to Maven?

Anyway to make this more straight forward ?

org.springdoc:springdoc-openapi-starter-webmvc-ui:2.8.1

springdoc-openapi stopped publishing open-source releases after v1.8.0 and moved to a different release model for later versions (like v2.8.1).

What It Means:
v1.8.0 is the last open-source release → This means that versions before and including 1.8.0 were freely available and published to Maven Central for anyone to use.
v2.8.1 exists but isn’t open-source in the same way → If the repository has a v2.8.1 tag, it means the source code still exists, but it’s likely under a different license or no longer publicly published to Maven.
You might need to build your own release → If the project is still open-source but just not published to Maven, you might have to clone the repo, build it yourself, and host it internally.
