Support query cancellation

Summary

Users should be able to easily abort an async request. We should consider which events are most important and how to propagate them to an AbortController.

Acceptance Criteria

• Propagate events for query/effect cancellation
• Create clear api for query/effect cancellation
• Hook up AbortController
• Add documentation
