SynapSeq v3.0.1 – Hotfix Release

We are announcing the release of SynapSeq v3.0.1.
This version was published as a hotfix rather than a planned milestone, due to a licensing conflict discovered in the original v3.0.0 release.

📌 Background

In v3.0.0 we included the vendored library go-audio/wav, licensed under Apache 2.0.
After review, we identified that GPL v2 (SynapSeq's license, inherited from SBaGen) is not compatible with Apache 2.0, making distribution of v3.0.0 legally problematic.

• To address this, the v3.0.0 release has been removed.

✅ Fix

• Replaced go-audio/wav (Apache 2.0) with beep (MIT).
• MIT is permissive and fully compatible with GPL v2.
• The result: SynapSeq remains 100% GPL v2 compliant going forward.

✨ New Feature (moved up from roadmap)

Although v3.0.1 is primarily a licensing hotfix, we took the opportunity to introduce one new feature that was originally planned for v3.1.0:

• Pure tones: the ability to use carriers without any beat (binaural, monaural, or isochronic).

This feature provides more flexibility when designing sequences, especially for users who want simple carrier tones.

🔜 Roadmap Impact

• Features originally scheduled for v3.1.0 will continue as planned.
• The only exception is that pure tones were introduced earlier in v3.0.1, instead of waiting for v3.1.

• v3.0.0 has been deprecated and removed due to license incompatibility.
• v3.0.1 is a hotfix that ensures GPL v2 compliance.
• A small but useful feature (pure tones) has been included ahead of schedule.
