Yeah this is something we noticed during testing as well, for some reason when a not-found page is rendered within the (layout) section, the root layout is rendered but its JavaScript is not executed. I haven't found a way to work around this yet or looked much into it, so if someone wants to help out here, feel free to look into it!

I played around this some more this week and still haven't found a suitable workaround. Will need to work on a repro next and see if we can make an upstream issue if this is indeed a Next.js bug.
