CRC rate?

Firstly, great tool. Been using it for a while with my modem and works great. Just have one question regarding the units, more specifically the rate of CRC, and FEC. I am not familiar with rrdtool and digging into your code it was not obvious to me what the rate unit was. I assume it is error count per ??? I see a rate in your code with a default to 20 seconds, I also see a heartbeat which is a mystery to me. Logically I would assume it is the count divided by the poll interval (plus whatever delay in returning the values and stuffing them into the rrd files. Any guidance would be great.

Hi Pete.

CRC and FEC are simple counters for the duration of the DSL connection. Since they are defined as COUNTER in rrdtool, it will automatically figure out the rate of change over a certain period of time. This period depends on what range you are plotting.

20 seconds is the so the called heartbeat interval in rrdtool. If there is no data for more than 20 sec rrdtool will insert an UNKNOWN value.
