Alerts: maturation period before sending the alert

When setting Alerts based on Counters, if I understand correctly Evaluation period (Mins) - it checks the counter value if not exceeded the threshold in last xx minutes right?
Would it be useful to implement some kind of maturation period, so alert is triggered only when the value exceeds the threshold and stays there for xx minutes? I would like to eliminate alerts raised when counter goes high but in next collection schedule is OK.

Thanks for the suggestion. There is an Aggregation option. Changing from max to avg might get you a bit closer to what you want.
