Refactor for:

Redundant state variables
Inconsistent data handling (this would be a good place to implement destructuring)
Missing API call error handling
DataCompile is seemingly only used as an intermediary for sending updates and might be altogether unnecessary.
Improper use of useEffect hook to update state (dateApplied).
