🤔 Resistive TF coil side case

In its current implementation for a resistive TF coil, the sides of the TF are just the WP insulation and their is no space left for a supportive case. Surely this should follow the same design as the superconducting TF coil?

I'm guessing that there is no side case as the resistive TF coil setup was originally that for a monolithic centrepost.

I have a feeling this will cause problems with stress models etc.

The stress calculation for superconducting coils doesn't include the side case anyway.
I don't know how the stress is calculated for resistive TF coils.
I am never quite sure how you can be sure the coils are in contact with each other and simultaneously in contact with the bucking cylinder.

From an engineering point of view I don't see any particular need for a side case.
